Stop Fear Say Hello
Stop Crime Say Hello was a movement started by Justin Foxton who I met whilst working in South Africa with Fusion International. It was based on the data that people are most unlikely to commit crimes against those they know or feel connected to. The idea was simple, make strangers neighbours by greeting them, and crime will go down in your community. It seems to me, that here in the UK, we need something similar at this time.
As long as we remain strangers it is easy to let hostilities, suspicions, prejudice and even plain indifference flourish. In our current climate, we need to be building bridges and defragmenting our communities. The local church is perfectly positioned and equipped to help people in the nighbourhood move from being strangers to becoming neighbours and friends.
