From the Fusion Team in Whitley…
The weather is changing, the leaves are falling & Autumn is officially here in the UK! This past month the team in Reading has been enjoying the cooler weather and keeping busy with all that’s currently in the works. This past month we conducted a training on building and reaching their community to the guys at New Hope Community Church here in Reading. It was a great morning of fellowship, encouragement, and providing insight to the church members.
A few weeks ago, Claire, along with the Learn 4 Life team, were able to meet with the new Head at JMA (John Madejski Academy), one of the secondary schools in Whitley. It was a great meeting with the Head allowing the Learn 4 Life team and Fusion to begin the process of doing more within the school itself from RE Lessons, lunch time and mentoring programs and beginning the preparations for the Connexions program! This is very exciting news as we’ve all been waiting for the doors to be opened to this school for quite some time! We also welcomed Christine Godwin, a local youth who is volunteering with us one day a week as a part of her work experience.
As the end of the year approaches, the Reading team is feverishly working on several projects for the remainder of this year and the coming one. Our 2nd Youth Leaders Conference originally scheduled for 15th October was rescheduled to 4th February 2017 and the team is still working to make it even better than the last. National Conference is coming up at the end of November and are finalising preparations for that over the next few weeks. We’re also excited to begin working on the 2nd Annual Foundations Course that will be held in Whitley at the beginning of the year.
Please pray for Anika who is still awaiting her visa to be approved and is taking a much needed holiday at the moment. Pray for the team as we begin to collaborate with the Learn 4 Life team on how to proceed with the work in JMA. The team is still in need of a General Administrator and PR and Communications Officer to come join us and finally, pray for the community of Whitley, that God would continue to be at work amongst the people here.
