News from our Team in Whitley (November 2016)

From the Fusion Team in Whitley…

We think it’s safe to say that Winter has officially come to Reading! Some of us in the office (i.e. Ashley) are more excited about the colder weather than others. Either way, we’re looking forward to the start of the Christmas season, the end of the year and the start of a new one!

This past month, the team has been busy as usual. Claire and Skye went to Oxford to lead a few training sessions during the Doorsteps Conference at the beginning of the month. The team has been able to give deputations at both Wheatley Community Church and The Well Church in Whitley. Finally, at the end of the month we held our Annual National Conference at the Mill at the House of Bread. Dan Evenhuis was our main speaker and was a blessing to all who attended. We were also able to welcome three new members to the team, Keith and Jason in Whitham and Indy in Whitley (see picture above for a look at our new members!). All in all, National Conference was once again a wonderful time of reconnecting with everyone and hearing about what we’re looking forward to for the coming year.

On the last day of November and quite possibly the coldest in quite some time; Anika, Claire and Ashley, along with Denise, 4 students from JMA and 3 council gardeners spent the afternoon planting daffodil bulbs in the middle of the roundabouts in Whitley. This has been a dream of not only one of the local vicars, but Claire as well for several years and to see it finally coming to fruition was a huge blessing. We can’t wait until spring when the bulbs sprout and begin to bring a little bit of light and joy to Whitley!

As the end of the year approaches, the team is working away at getting everything tied up for this year and preparing for the start of the next. We’re currently in preparations for our 2nd Foundations course beginning 22nd January and running for 12 weeks and our 2nd Youth Leaders Conference on the 4th February.

Pray for the right people to attend the Foundations course. Please also pray for both Skye and Ashley as they fly overseas (Skye to Australia and Ashley to Texas) in the coming weeks. We also have a praise that Anika has been granted her visa extension that she’s been anxiously awaiting!
