Families Course

Families is a short course that was developed in Australia as part of Fusion Australia's response to the needs in Western Sydney.  We are pleased to be exploring how it can be of help in some of our communities here in the UK.

“Families” is a twelve-hour course that focuses on family relationships and gives people strategies in parenting as well as skills to deal with conflict and build honest, supportive relationships with those close to them.

Please visit the Fusion Australia website to find out more about the course itself on: http://westernsydney.fusion.org.au/families

We will be having a lunch time information workshop in Reading on the 17th of November, with course developer Kath McNee. Please call the office on 0118 931 4747 if you are interested in attending.

Sallie Hammond author of the Families short course, has written a book called 'Families: Mine, Yours, Ours.'

Here's an excerpt from Steve Biddulph's forward:

"It’s not uncommon for a parenting course such as The Families Course to create such an eye-opening insight in a desperately lost parent that their entire parenting style changes and their children improve almost from day one.  To achieve that is not as simple as it sounds – the combination of empathy, respect, so that each reader feels supported and not judged, with carefully selected content and ideas which can be put into practice right away, takes decades of experience.   That’s what Sallie has, and we should be so grateful that she has taken the time, and has the generosity of spirit, to make it so readily available. Parent education has taken a big step forward with this comprehensive book.”
